Gameplay - Overview

Towers of Babylon is a strategic fantasy card game designed for two players, emphasizing strategic decision-making and resource management across various fronts, including cards, power sources, board presence and positioning, and time.

Players engage in a dynamic sequence of actions during their turns, including drawing cards, deploying minions, maneuvering across zones, constructing, and launching attacks.

The game unfolds over a span of up to 15 turns, during which both players compete to construct the tallest tower while simultaneously trying to disrupt their opponent's progress.

Utilizing minions and spells, players engage in a multifaceted strategy, employing these resources to construct their own tower, fortify its defenses, and launch attacks aimed at damaging the opponent's tower and minions. It's a race against time and wits as players strive to outmaneuver and outwit their adversary in this dynamic contest of tower-building and sabotage."

Game Ojective

In Towers of Babylon, the primary objective is to achieve victory by creating a tower with 50 levels. Once a player successfully accomplishes this feat, the game concludes immediately, securing their win.

However, if neither player manages to create a tower that reaches 50 levels during the player's 15 turns, victory is determined by comparing the heights of the towers. The player with the tallest tower at the end of the game emerges victorious. In the event that both players have towers with the same number of levels, the game results in a draw.

Gameplay

During each turn the players have the opportunity to draw cards, establish power sources, summon minions, cast spells, develop their tower, and engage in attacks against their opponents' tower and minions.

At the onset of each turn, after drawing their first card of the turn, players face a critical decision: to either sacrifice a card from their hand to acquire a Power Source or draw an additional card. These Power Sources fuel the deployment of Minion and Spell cards from their hand, shaping the course of gameplay.

Minions play a pivotal role as players strategically position them across three distinct game zones—the Tower, the Ramparts, and the Battlefield.

Minions stationed in the Tower act as builders, serving as the primary means of constructing and enhancing the player's tower levels, thus advancing towards victory.

On the Battlefield, minions take on the role of raiders. These raiders are instrumental in launching raids on the opponent's tower, aiming to reduce its levels or eliminate opposing minions.

Meanwhile, minions positioned on the Ramparts function as defenders, tasked with protecting the tower and allied minions from enemy raids.

With each player maneuvering their minions between zones strategically, aiming to strike a delicate balance between tower defense and construction, while thwarting the opponent's progress, Towers of Babylon offers an engaging blend of tactical gameplay and resource management."

In tandem with minion strategies, players wield powerful spells, capable of drawing cards, inflicting damage, empowering minions, or manipulating their positions across zones.

Spells come in three distinct types: Commands, which trigger immediate effects upon use; Invocations, with delayed effects typically unfolding at the start of the next turn; and Witcheries, payed for with transformed power, played at any time, adding depth and suspence to the game.
